Herald Digi Poll Shows Greens Over Five Per Cent

Published: Fri 19 Nov 1999 11:54 AM
This morning’s (Friday) Herald DigiPoll shows the Greens breaking the five per cent threshold for the first time this campaign.
The poll of 872 people puts National on 29.1 per cent, down from 31.7; Labour on 37.8, up from 33.4; ACT on 10, down from 10.5; the Alliance on 8.6, up from 7.8; NZFirst down to 4.8 from 6.5 and the Greens on 5.2.
The poll is interesting not only due to the rise of the Greens but also the decline of NZFirst.
Under this scenario National and ACT could not form a government – even with the support of NZ First (assuming Peters won Tauranga).
A Labour/Alliance/Green coalition would have a two seat majority.
