New Zealand has been awarded the "Fossil of the Day" award by environmental groups at the United Nations for its
environmental achievement.
Why? Because we increased our climate change emissions of carbon dioxide by 30 per cent - instead of the promised
reduction of five per cent.
This event makes this Thursday's CityVoice - Scoop Elections Public Forum Debate on "Transportation" very timely indeed.
More roads - or more public transport? More transport - or more walking and work in your own neighbourhood? Or a
Political Climate Change with Less transport and more Future?
Those are the issues that you may want to debate with the candidates standing in the important Wellington Central
Electorate.
What vision of an ecological future do the Candidates have? What would you ask them?

(2) What linkages do you see between a transport strategy and a land use strategy?
(3) What approach do you take to public transport?
