Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was joined for the year's first post-cabinet press conference by Finance Minister Grant
Robertson, prior to the Labour caucus retreat in the Wairarapa.
Roberston and Ardern discussed the Government's response to a damning FMA and RBNZ report on practices in the life
insurance sector. The government plans to bring forward work on regulating sales incentive practices in finance.
They also answered questions on the RBNZ's new capital rules, the process for the Government response to the upcoming
tax working group report.
Ardern also discussed a future cabinet reshuffle, Kiwibuild house construction falling short of early targets and the
resignation of the project's head, a request for protection for academic Anne-Marie Brady, tax breaks for the film
industry, NZ's response to the situation in Venezuela, the status of the planned Zero Carbon Act, and the West Coast
Regional Council's stance on climate change.
