RNZ and Scoop Publishing Announce Content Partnership

Published: Mon 19 Feb 2018 11:23 AM
RNZ and Scoop Publishing have announced a content-sharing agreement which will see RNZ content available on www.scoop.co.nz, an independent news website reaching more than 500,000 readers a month.
The new arrangement maintains RNZ’s policy of sharing content with media partners and extends to 14 the number of agreements in place with a range of media organisations.
Glen Scanlon, RNZ’s head of digital, said the agreement with Scoop was in keeping with RNZ’s push to work closely with different media outlets and extended the public broadcaster’s reach to more New Zealanders.
“We really want to be a helpful partner by collaborating with a range of media partners. Content-sharing agreements broaden the reach for independent journalism in a highly competitive media environment and we believe these kind of deals enhance our public media role and help meet our charter commitments by getting quality content in front of new audiences.”
Joseph Cederwall, co-editor of Scoop said that the arrangement will increase the diversity of coverage Scoop offers and help maximise the public impact of RNZ content.
“This content sharing arrangement provides a welcome boost to Scoop’s ability to offer a greater depth of up to date public interest news content to our readership, which is a core part of our mission. Rather than attempt to duplicate the excellent reporting conducted by RNZ’s team, we are now able to focus on delivering this crucial information to the public as well as adding it to our extensive news archive dating back almost two decades.”
