Willie Apiata was honoured for rescuing a comrade under fire on the battlefield. And recently, the Mayor of Wellington even tried to have Katherine Mansfield dug up and brought 'home'. The 29 victims at Pike River deserve the same grunt from fellow New Zealanders.
