NZ Farewells Trade Union Hero Helen Kelly – Video & Tweetstory

NZ farewells Helen Kelly trade unionist, activist, optimist, campaigner for justice and fairness in NZ.

Tweetstory by Alastair Thompson

Trade unionist Helen Kelly died on October 14th aged 52. Yesterday - Friday 28th October - she was bid farewell at a public memorial meeting at Wellington's Michael Fowler Center in speech and songs. She will be missed.

Watch complete video of the memorial service here:

The public memorial coincided with news that Helen had been dropped from the New Zealander of the Year nomination list. With the help of Action Station I have started a petition asking the princpal awards sponsor Kiwibank to ask the awards organisers to reinstate her nomination.

Yesterday while watching the video stream of the memorial from France I tweeted my highlights in this Storify tweetstory.
