New Trustees for Scoop Foundation for Public Interest Journalism
Joining the Scoop Foundation Trust Board are veteran journalist Jeremy Rose and Public Good Aotearoa NZ convenor Jan Rivers.
"Jan and Jeremy will bring significant additional capacity to the governance side of the new Foundation and we are extremely glad to have them on board", said Scoop Foundation Trust Board chair Margaret Thompson. The fourth member of the Trust Board is outgoing Scoop.co.nz editor Alastair Thompson.
Scoop's transformation into New Zealand's first charitable trust board owned general news publisher began at the end of 2014. Over the course of 2015 Scoop has been replacing its advertising business model with a new business model centred around its 500,000 strong monthly readership.
Scoop launched its new product suite in May and June 2015, and as 2016 began Scoop was supported by nearly 1000 Scoop Foundation members and over 100 accredited organisations. Accredited organisations have signed up to Scoop's commercial use licenses, acknowledging that Scoop's approach to the curation of news, and provision of a real-time, freely available news service to the public, assists them in their business activities.
