1. Partial results from the Greek referendum suggest that voters have rejected the terms of an international bailout,
defying warnings their action could drive their country out of the eurozone. About 60 percent have voted no and about 40
percent yes.
2. Dunedin is holding a civic reception for Super Rugby champions the Highlanders today, as the celebrations of their
win continue. This follows the team’s 21-14 victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday.
3. An immigration lawyer says demand for overseas workers to help with the rebuild of Christchurch is showing no sign of
slowing. Immigration New Zealand figures showed more than 2500 visas linked to the Canterbury rebuild had been issued in
the first half of this year, up more than 40 percent on last year's total.
4. The Waitaki District mayor says that turnout to a march yesterday shows how concerned people are about proposed cuts
to the local hospital. More than 2000 people joined the protest in Oamaru over proposals by the Southern District Health
Board to knock back funding by more than half a million dollars over the next year.
5. Secondary school principals say they are spending an increasing amount of time dealing with disputes involving
parents over their children’s extracurricular activities. Their concerns follow high-profile cases in which the courts
reversed decisions made by schools.
