The National Director of ActionStation, Marrianne Elliott, was today joined by three people dressed as sheep to hand over a petition calling for inquiry into the Saudi sheep farm deals between Foreign Minister Murray McCully and Mr. Hamood Al-Ali Al-Khalaf.
Green co-leader James Shaw greeted them and took the petition, signed by over 10,000 people, promising it would be taken to the Auditor General. Asked about the Prime Minister’s blaming of the former Labour Government, Shaw said it was time for National to prove it. “If you’ve proof, pony up and show it,” he said.
Labour MP David Parker today requested the redacted documents, in which the National Government claims the proof lies, be tabled. National objected. Speaker David Carter said the only recourse to get the documents released was further questions in the house.
