Magna Carta Motion Passed

A motion marking the 800th anniversary of Magna Court was passed when Parliament resumed at 2pm.

ACT MP David Seymour moved the motion and he said Magna Carta marked the start of democratic rights, the rule of law and due process in modern democracies. The motion was passed on a voice vote.

A number of petitions were presented including one asked the House to urge the Government to make extra payments to former residents of Christchurch rest home for their losses and another asking steps to be taken to stop ACC discrimination against non-workers exposed to asbestos.

Supplementary Estimates of Appropriations for the Year Ending 30 June 2015 by the Finance and Expenditure Committee

The Hineuru Claims Settlement Bill and the Passports Amendment Bill (No 2) were introduced.
