National Loses Outright Majority
National has lost its outright majority in Parliament after the counting of special votes and the declaration of the final count.
Compared to Election Night National Party lost one list seat and now has 60 seats in total in a 121 seat Parliament.
The Green Party gained one list seat compared to election night, and now has 14 seats in total.
There were no other changes to the overall number number of seats held on election night by other parties and all electorate candidates leading on election night have been confirmed as winning their seats.
The changes mean National will need the support of one other party or MP to pass legislation. It has already agreed confidence and supply deals with ACT and United Future (both with just one MP) and is set to confirm another deal with the Maori Party, which has two MPs.
