Telecom NZ said today it will change its name to Spark later
this year.
A media statement from CEO Simon Moutter says
the new name "better reflects the company's new direction".
He says:
“As a company we’ve moved far beyond the home
telephone. Spark better represents what we are today – it
is all about digital services, fibre, mobile, data, cloud,
entertainment, apps, or whatever new technology is around
the corner."
Telecom New Zealand will become Spark New
Zealand Limited while the company's Gen-i division will
become Spark Digital Solutions. Telecom Digital Ventures
will become Spark Ventures.
The company announced the name
change ahead of its half-year results.
