The Return Of The GCSB Bill

Published: Tue 20 Aug 2013 10:36 AM
The Government will return to the committee stage of the Government Communications Security Bureau and Related Legislation Amendment Bill when Parliament resumes after a week long adjournment.
When debate was interrupted MPs were on part three of the three part bill.
The controversial bill is due to be debated after Question Time today. This will be followed by the second reading of the Inquiries Bill. This has languished on the Order Paper since 2009 but has now been given a high priority as the Government wish to hold a quick, but full inquiry into the Fonterra botulism scare.
Ministers have indicated a Supplementary Order Paper will be introduced to incorporate lessons learned from the Pike River and Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commissions of Inquiry.
