Budget Progresses
Parliament has indicated its confidence in the Government with a 63 to 53 vote in the Budget debate.
The Appropriation (2013/14 Estimates) Bill completed its second reading with National, Maori Party, ACT and United Future in support. Labour, Greens, NZ First, Mana and Brendon Horan were opposed.
An amendment in name of Labour Leader David Shearer indicating no confidence in the Government was also defeated by a similar margin 53 to 63.
David Parker took issue with Peter Dunne’s vote being recorded as that of United Future, Speaker David Carter referred him to his earlier ruling.
MPs returned to the interrupted first reading debate on the Local Government (Auckland Council) Amendment Bill (No2).
