Democrats push for ban of assault weapons over Sandy Hook, but stay silent on nuclear power after Fukushima by Lori Price, www.legitgov.org 20 Dec 2012 Democrats want to implement a ban on military-style assault weapons in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook shootings. Several lawmakers and liberal pundits assert that certain guns--by their very existence--are a threat to human life. Well. Why no similar outcry demanding an end to nuclear power--after four nuclear plant meltdowns at Fukushima? Nuclear power plants, history has shown--by their very existence--are a threat to human life. In fact, President Barack Obama sent officials to Japan to ensure that the Japanese government would continue to build new plants. There was no 'wall-to-wall' media coverage as the disasters unfolded at Fukushima, unlike the commercial-free coverage of the events that transpired at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Surely, thyroid cancer will kill far more than the twenty children who were among the twenty-six who perished in Newtown, Connecticut. Yes, Sandy Hook was a 'mindless, senseless' tragedy. Ditto the Obama Administration's unabated--albeit hushed, so as not to offend the 'Left'--love affair with nuclear power and its Wall Street profiteers.
Lanza wanted to join the Marines or 'other branch' of the military [Maybe he did.] 20 Dec 2012 Adam Lanza aspired to be a Marine, one of "the few, the proud." Failing that, he planned to join another branch of the military. Lanza first made his military aspirations known when he was 17. On the day of the Newtown shootings, Lanza was clad in body armor, black clothing and wielding a Bushmaster rifle [aka the gun 'left in the car'], equivalent to a military M16. He was also armed with a 9mm Glock originally used by the Austrian military -- and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
'So, just read the card?' 'Yeah, just read the card.' --Sandy Hook mind-blower: Newtown shooting victim's father, Robbie Parker, is seen laughing just before his on-camera interview, as he inquires about whether or not he should just 'read the card.' (As in... cue card?) 'Yeah, just read the card,' a man replies, off-camera. --Lori Price 17 Dec 2012 (Video uploaded by wethecom1)
Bye-bye, Posse Comitatus: Marine father stands watch at Nashville elementary school --His answer was to stand out front, in full Marine uniform, and watch for any suspicious activity. 19 Dec 2012 In the wake of the Newtown, CT, shooting... one Nashville father decided that if anyone was going to keep watch of his kids and their teachers, it would be him. With no armed police and no metal detectors at Gower Elementary, there is just Staff Sgt. Jordan Pritchard. The sight, alone, of a Marine standing in the front of the school, watching everyone who comes in, is providing a sense of security for many in the community. "I said, 'Boy, you don't know how much better I feel having you standing here,'" said school parent Billy Hester.
Grundy County schools placed on lockdown 18 Dec 2012 (TN) Grundy County schools were put on lockdown Tuesday morning for safety-related reasons, reported WRCB-TV. School officials said they decided to put the schools on lockdown as a precautionary measure [?]. It's unclear what kind of threat prompted the lockdown.
Experimental Drone Passes Tests Aboard USS Truman 19 Dec 2012 An experimental drone that could change the future of naval aviation has survived its first round of testing aboard an aircraft carrier, Navy officials say. The X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System went through a series of mechanical and engineering tests designed to evaluate its compatibility with the Navy's aircraft carriers during a two-week stint aboard the nuclear powered USS Harry S. Truman. "I'm a believer that this is only the beginning," Don Blottenberger, program manager for the Navy's unmanned aircraft program, said in a statement.
4 Are Out at State Dept. After Scathing Report on Benghazi Attack 20 Dec 2012 Four State Department officials were removed from their posts on Wednesday after an independent panel criticized the "grossly inadequate" security at a diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, that was attacked on Sept. 11, leading to the deaths of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. Eric J. Boswell, the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, resigned. Charlene R. Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, and another official in the diplomatic security office whom officials would not identify were relieved of their duties. So was Raymond Maxwell, a deputy assistant secretary who had responsibility for North Africa. The four officials, a State Department spokeswoman said, "have been placed on administrative leave pending further action."
Social Security Sell-Outs [Be sure to include the MSNBC Obamabot pundits] 19 Dec 2012 Congressional DemocRATs, led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), signaled greater willingness on Wednesday to cut Social Security benefits, with the party now considering a change to the way inflation is calculated for recipients. Pelosi told reporters on Capitol Hill that a cut proposed by President Barack Obama in the fiscal cliff negotiations would in fact "strengthen" the program, echoing the claims often made by Republicans about entitlement programs they want to slash. Her remarks come a day after she said that liberals in Congress who are unhappy with Obama's concession to the GOP would nevertheless support them.
Even without Congress, Obama could act to restrict guns 17 Dec 2012 Unburdened by re-election worries and empowered by law to act without Congress, U.S. President Barack Obama could take action to improve background checks on gun buyers, ban certain gun imports and bolster oversight of dealers. Prospects for gun control legislation intensified in the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, as more pro-gun rights lawmakers said on Monday they were open to the possibility... Having just won a second four-year term, Obama does not need to fear alienating voters who favor gun rights and he could press ahead without lawmakers on fronts where federal law enables executive action.
