Trade talk at US-NZ CouncilConnie Lawn
A fascinating talk about the trade situation was held at the offices of the US - New Zealand Council in Washington, D.C.
The invited guest was MP Clayton Cosgrove, a spokesman for the Labour Party Shadow Cabinet. He spends about a week in
the US, meeting with people who can influence passage of the TPP, or Trans Pacific Partnership. He said "NZ is key to
making the TPP happen." He was sponsored by William Maroni, President of the US -NZ Council. Two past Presidents were
also at the dinner.
Clayton Cosgrove also talked about "the fantastic New Zealand visit of US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta," which
illustrates the ever closer military and security ties between the two nations. Finally, he talked about the continuing
hardships for the people of Christchurch, as they rebuild their beloved city. He said "Christchurch is moving, but there
may be a rough few years ahead for many."
