MPs Ensure A Vote On Marriage Bill Tonight

Published: Wed 29 Aug 2012 04:18 PM
MPs have ensured they will get to a vote on the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill by fast tracking the committee stage of a bill.
Following Question Time and the General Debate, MPs turned to the committee stage of the Hutt City Council (Graffiti Removal) Bill.
There were no speakers and no debate and the bill was reported without amendment after about a minute’s consideration.
MPs then began the interrupted first reading of the Prohibition of Gang Insignia in Government Premises Bill.
Two further members' bills will be debated before the Marriage Bill sometime this evening
