MPs are preparing themselves for a vote this evening on the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill, but it will take careful time management to get to a vote on it this evening.
Question Time will begin at 2pm and usually takes an hour.
If there are no urgent debate applications or the Speaker declines any that are made the one hour General Debate will be
held.
Louisa Wall’s marriage bill is down the list on private and members’ bills.
First up is the committee stage of the Hutt City Council (Graffiti Removal) Bill which, theoretically, should not take more than an hour.
There are then 20 minutes left in debate on the first reading of the Prohibition of Gang Insignia in Government Premises Bill
There are then one hour and five minute debates on the first reading of the State-Owned Enterprises and Crown Entities (Protecting New Zealand's Strategic Assets) Amendment Bill and the Resource Management (Restricted Duration of Certain Discharge and Coastal Permits) Amendment Bill.
Then will come the one hour and five minute debate on the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill which should mean a vote before 10pm if there are no delays, urgent debates or roadblocks put in the way.
Most counts of MPs intent in the conscience vote have the bill being sent to select committee for consideration.
