To mark the announcement of the first nine speakers and the opening of ticket sales for TEDxAucklnzd 2012- which Scoop Media Cartel is delighted to be sponsoring - Scoop yesterday conducted a draw for the winner of two tickets to the event which is due to be held on October 6th at Auckland's Aotea Center.
To be in to win you needed to be at Nethui 2012 (which was held last month) and to have filled in a card with your details. The lucky winner was Suzanne Kendrick of Auckland.
Below you can see the draw being conducted in the Scoop Office.

Those who missed out can book their own tickets to the day long event here:

The price to attend what looks like it will be a day of unparalleled intellectual stimulation is very resasonable and the event is expected to sell quickly. You can book tickets by clicking here.
On learning of her good fortune Suzanne very graciously blogged about her win here:

Saying:
"It's been a good day – I just won a double pass toTEDx Auckland! – thanks very much to Scoop, one of the local sponsors of TEDx this year. By merely dropping my card into a bucket I now have a double pass. A perfect fit sponsorship here for Scoop are they very definitely in the world of spreading ideas as fast at they are told. We all know that without the sponsors there is no Tedx so cheers to all who have got behind the event.
This TEDx Auckland’s, New Zealand’s third event is on in Auckland on the 6th October. Save the date people and the whole day it is on from 10 – 6. Hours of interesting fun. Twitter says the lineup is being revealed tomorrow but you will need to be in quick to get a ticket."
Congratulations Suzanne and well done to the TEDx team for getting us this far. The line-up of speakers so far includes a fascinating selection of Kiwis doing very interesting stuff both here and abroad and includes:
"…physicist, decathlete and political advisor Sean Gourley; change development specialist Paul Wood; physicist and pursuer of the Higgs boson ‘god particle’ David Krofcheck; materials and biomedical engineer Michelle Dickinson; internationally recognised architect Andrew Patterson; director of surgical research at Auckland Hospital and co-founder of medical start-up SIMTICs John Windsor; art director of Apropos and founder of the 100 Days ProjectEmma Rogan; CEO of Arvus Group Matthew Simmons; and dental surgeon and founder of ICARE Assil Russell." - Click to view the full press release with more detailed information on the event and brief biographies of each of the first 9 speakers
Two more announcements will follow as the remaining speakers are confirmed and musical interlude acts are announced.
Those who do decide to come can expect to see a contingent from Scoop, and from our Scoop Media Cartel partners - Public Address, Pundit & The Standard also present. Blogger friends Mauricio Freitas from Geekzone and David Farrar from Kiwiblog are also working with us on the promotion side of the event as media partners and sponsors.
