Today in Gaza.....

There is so little fuel left that the bakeries say they can only last another three days, then there will be no bread. 20 percent of emergency vehicles have empty petrol tanks, so I hope there aren’t any Israeli attacks.....

People from Rafah, Khan Younis, Beit Hanoun and other parts of the strip who work here in Gaza City are being stranded because there are not enough cars with fuel to get everyone home. I went to an art exhibition this evening, and a friend from Marghazi asked if he could sleep on my couch if he could not get a car.

This is a real indication of the level of desperation, as for a man to stay in a woman’s house is an absolute last resort. He hasn’t turned up so I guess he either found a car, or a male friend with room for him.

Even in the ‘poshest’ suburb we have had 20 hours on end without power...it is freezing cold at night, and just about every kid you see has a runny nose, and every adult is either just getting, suffering from, or recovering from the flu...life is pretty miserable, despite the good face that people put on it all.

It is a lesson in resilience and resistance – no matter what is thrown at them, the people of Gaza stoically carry on – but how much more can they take?

Today the PA said Israel will pump 450,000 litres of Israeli diesel through the Kerem Shalom tomorrow to ease the crisis – a crisis manufactured by them!

My greatest frustration living here is seeing the grossly inhumane treatment of an entrapped population by the Zionist machine – and an international community that stands by and lets it happen.
