Operation 8: Day 23, March 19th
Jury Has Some Questions
by Annemarie Thorby
At 2.30pm this afternoon the Court went briefly into Chambers before the jury was brought back in.
The judge then spoke to them:
'I received your two communications in which you indicate you are having difficulties on Count One...and you question if you can continue with the other charges.'
'The answer to that second question is yes. You can deal with the Counts...in any order you like. And if it is to be the case, that you are focussing on Count One and haven't at this stage concerned yourself with the others...then you are perfectly at liberty to set Count One to the side and work through the remaining Counts...in any order....'
'It may be the case, in doing that, you may resolve some of the issues that have been troubling you in Count One.'
'So that is my advice to you, Ladies and Gentlemen. I hope it enables you to make progress....'
