Parliament To Sit Thursday Night And Friday Morning

Published: Thu 16 Feb 2012 11:26 AM
Parliament will sit under the new ``extended hours’’ rules tonight and possibly tomorrow morning.
The Government intends to use the time from 7.30 to 10pm tonight and 9am to 1pm tomorrow (if needed) to progress a number of bills including a raft of treaty settlement claims.
Normally the House would rise at 6pm on Thursday to end the sitting week.
It will be the first time the extended sitting hour provisions will be used as a replacement for an Urgency Motion.
For more details see an earlier report on the issue.
Other business on the Order Paper includes the four hours and 16 minutes remaining in the debate in reply to the Speech from the Throne.
