Final Election Results

Final Election Results

The final election results including special votes has confirmed that National has lost one seat to have 59 MPs and the Greens have gained one to make caucus of 14.

There was heavy trading across many of the iPredict 2011 2011 election stocks ahead of the public announcement with many traders picking the change in the overall composition of Parliament.

Other close results included Labour's Brendon Burns losing Christchurch Central to National's Nicky Wagner by 45 votes after a dead heat on Election Day and Labour's Carmel Sepuloni taking Waitakere off Cabinet Minister Paula Bennett by 11 votes.

Sepuloni's win means Labour list MP Raymond Huo will not be an MP and National’s drop in vote share leaves Aaron Gilmore out of Parliament as well.

The Green Party vote share climbed to 11.06 percent and brought in Mojo Mathers on their list.

National’s deals with United Future and ACT means it holds a single vote majority of 61 seats in a 121 seat Parliament, but this may increase if the Maori Party’s three MPs strike a deal.
