PRESENTING:
The Inaugural Scoop
Soap-Box YouTube Competition - For Election
2011
scoop.co.nz/go/soapbox.html
As a means of engaging with Scoop readers and contributors, and to celebrate the freedom of speech and political diversity, Scoop is running a political video competition for the 2011 General Election entitled The Inaugural Scoop Soap-Box YouTube Competition.
And Loop's Mikee Tucker - a long time collaborator - is making it all worthwhile by providing some fantastic prizes. A Double Pass to NZ's coolest and most kiwi music event - Fly My Pretties . As mentioned below we will try to get some more prizes as the competition develops.
Here's how it works:
a) Shoot a political message (it could be about the oil spill or the price of milk);
b) Upload to Youtube;
c) Stick it on the Soap-Box YouTube Competition's Wall (on Facebook). Or email the URL to soapbox@scoop.co.nz or tweet it to @ScoopVideoNews.
d) Every two days a spot prize to see Fly My Pretties in either Melbourne (November 4), Auckland (10,11,12 November), Wellington (November 19), Christchurch (30 and 31 October) or Dunedin (29 October) will be announced.
On Tuesday the 25th of October the first three winners of The Inaugural Scoop/Loop Soap-Box YouTube Competition were announced. These have now been promoted to the rank of "contenders" and will be run over the Scoop Media Cartel for 20,000 views each. Each winner will be offered a double pass to a Fly My Pretties concert of their choice.
The competition remains open till November 19th and any support or prizes would be very welcome.
The competition is open to all ideas and all political affiliations, and judges will be looking for the following:
The way the political message is
presented;
Ingenuity;
Humour;
Timeliness;
Newsyness;
And above all else:
Truthiness (+ anything else we deem worthy of being a criteria)
As usual for these things we will not reconsider our decisions. The panel of judges may also change over time. And you are welcome to try and influence us by telling us stuff - politely - on the Facebook page if you wish.
We also reserve our right to change the rules and format of the competition (UPDATE: We have now done so and will now award three winners on a weekly basis instead of one every 2 days which has proved impractical to administer). We will also try to score some prizes in the meantime for people outside of Wellington and Auckland which are deliverable.
So get shooting!
Cheers
Alastair Thompson
