Folks who may have been following the Kaitaia Airport saga through the local newspaper will know that there's been a slight "difference of opinion" between me and certain elements in the Council on just what's happening up at the airport.

Well, suffice to say there's been a "little bit of miscommunication" between parties about who said what to who about relationships between the iwi, the government, the kura and the council, so not wanting to let this all die from ignorance and assumption, I decided to make a few calls.

I've spoken to the negotiators for Ngati Kahu and Ngaitakoto, I had a chat to the Minister, I rang the Mayor (and when I catch up with him I'll have a chat to the chairman of the kura as well), and with a bit of luck and a bit of help from the guy upstairs, I hope to be able to get a meeting with the main players up at Aniwaniwa in about a week.

Fingers crossed everybody. If we pull this off, hopefully we can lay down some ground rules for how the airport can flourish in the future with the assistance of all parties.
