Two Gazan men give their views on the ceasefire
This evening I went to old Gaza City and interviewed two men, a young man and an older man, about how they feel about the current situation in Gaza, and today's ceasefire. It was almost evening prayers, and everyone was getting ready to break the fast.
Typical of Muslim men, the young man was very concerned for children and future generations, while the older man, a welder who worked in Dubai and Israel before becoming 'the best falafel maker in Gaza' was specific about how that can be attained - Palestinian unity, an end to the blockade, and peace.
Despite five days of aerial attacks, 15 deaths and scores of injured, these men can still smile, and look to the future, a testament to the fortitude and humanity of the Gazan people.
A young man in old Gaza City talks about the ceasefire, and what it means to him. In a typical Gazan manner, he expresses concern not for himself, but for the children, and the future generation.
The market in old Gaza City was almost back to normal this evening, as the end of the day's fast drew near. I talked to Abu, the best falafel-maker in Gaza, about his work, and what he thinks of today's ceasefire between Israel and Gaza. Not surprisingly, Palestinian unity, the opening of Gaza, and peace, are his priorities.
