Fast in Wellington for Hazare, Ramdev
August 11, 2011
A group of Kiwi Indians "without any particular affiliation to any organisation," according to a communique received by Indian Weekender have planned to undertake a fast on the day of the Yogathon Launch on August 13 from 8 AM to 5 PM in Lower Hutt.
The fast is to support the mass movement of Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare in India against endemic corruption, which is a major issue in India for the past several months ever since unearthing of scandals during the Commonwealth Games.
A printed letter with signatures will be sent across after the day of fast, the communique says.
"Please note that we are talking about both the corrupt babu-netas in India and their Western and other financiers where stolen wealth of Indian poor and taxpayers is hidden. All laws in the world hold both the thief and the holder of stolen goods guilty," it continues.
Dr. Ranjan Acharyya is coordinating this event.
