A large earthquake has struck off the coast of Japan triggering a powerful tsunami in the north-west Pacific.
The USGSUnited States Geological Science site (www.usgs.gov) records the quake as a 8.8 Magnitude approximately 125 kilometres off the coast of Honsu, Japan.
