Earlier, Connie wrote to Scoop from Washington:
This is just a brief note to tell you millions of Americans are saddened by the trauma in Christchurch. Most Americans love New Zealand, and always think of you in a positive light (despite silly past differences over nuclear matters).
The Earthquake event is dominating most news casts here in the US. There are many interviews carried on radio, t.v, and the internet. Video scenes of the damage are shown everywhere. Some American rescue teams are on their way to New Zealand. There will be contributions coming in from all over the world. The world knows New Zealanders are self - reliant and hard working. But everyone appreciates support, prayers, and contributions, and you have them. God Bless, Connie Lawn
