Audio (31 Minutes): Audio on Demand of NZ Prime
Minister John Key's post Cabinet press conference for
Parliamentary press gallery journalists held this afternoon.
The PM began by announcing a visit by Australian PM Julia
Gillard and a brief readout of other recent business
including a raise in the minimum wage. This was followed by
a wide ranging Q&A which touched on:
- Waitangi Day;
- the Maori Party meltdown and the future of Hone Harawira;
- the Trans Pacific Partnership free trade negotiations scheduled to resume next Monday;
- his planned statement to the House of Parliament tomorrow;
- the size and efficiency of the public service;
- the appropriateness of his regular appearances on Tony Veitch's radio show, his questionable experience as a model, and the appropriateness of his comments on Liz Hurley's hotness on the Veitch radio show;
- whether or not he is an a-hole - in response to a statement to that effect from the mother of a young Maori girl who he took to Waitangi two years ago, and who now feels that her personal position has deteriorated;
- the minimum wage increase;
- differences in economic policy between National and Labour.
