The United States believes that Indonesia's government will provoke unrest in its troubled province of West Papua due to neglect, corruption and human rights abuses, according to leaked US diplomatic cables reported on by Fairfax Media.
The cables, released by WikiLeaks, reveal that US diplomats blame the government in Jakarta for unrest in West Papua, where Indonesian military commanders have been accused of illegal logging operations and drug smuggling from West Papua into Papua New Guinea.
