The 95bFM Monday Wire with Will Pollard, 13/09/10

12.05ish His Worship the Mayor, John Banks: Current Auckland City Council Mayor, Super City Mayoral Candidate

Todays Wire show is the first in a week long series, the Super City Shakedown, focusing on the upcoming local body elections in Auckland. Each day were interviewing one of the leading mayoral candidates for the new (and supposedly improved) Auckland Council, along with other interested parties. To kick things off, earlier this morning we had John Banks, the current Auckland City Mayor up here in the bFM studio. I spoke to Banskie just before the show today and asked him about his vision for our city, and what his take has been on the mayoral campaign so far. We also put him through his paces with our very own mayoral quiz.

12.40ish Dr Martin Hirst, AUTs School of Communication Studies

Then well have Dr Martin Hirst from AUTs School of Communication Studies in studio to discuss how the New Zealand media have treated these upcoming elections. This is the election-themed special of our semi-regular Media Rage segment, but do we have anything to rage about when it comes to the super city in the news? Tune in to find out.

12.50ish Rohan Evans, Waitemata Local Board Candidate

And lastly, at around quarter to one, Ill be joined by Rohan Evans to discuss his run for public office on one of the new councils local community boards. You might know Rohan in his current capacity, running the Wine Cellar down in St Kevins arcade. But what does he know about politics? And what is a local board anyway? All those questions (and more!) when he comes up to bFM towards the end of the hour.

Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
