– Strange Birds In Paradise An Essential Piece In The West
Papua Story
KiwiFM
Audio: Wallace Chapman and Scoop's Selwyn
Manning discuss how a documentary film by Australia's
Charlie Hill-Smith, Strange Birds In Paradise, has screened
at the New Zealand International Film Festival. The
documentary is proving to be an essential piece in a story
of understanding the plight of West Papua's peoples who seek
freedom from Indonesia's occupation, oppression, and
censors. Indonesia bans journalists and independent
observers from traveling in the Melanesian island. This is
an essential account too of West Papua's culture and is a
document of hope.
