Ambassador and Mrs. Roy Ferguson will soon leave Washington, after a very successful four year tour. He has served in the Washington Embassy before, and has also been NZ's Ambassador to South and North Korea.
Ambassador Ferguson tells Scoop, the two visits of Prime Ministers were among the highlights of his tour. He has seen progress in the overall relationship, and remains optimistic about a trans Pacific trade agreement The Ambassador is pleased with President Obama's moves to reduce nuclear weapons, and observes the enormous pressures on the President. He also says Mike Moore will enjoy his time in Washington, and has enormous stature in the international field.
Mrs. Dawn Ferguson has been extremely busy in Washington, with intellectual, cultural, and social activities. She expects to miss the busy activities - after a break of a few months! She says most of the people she met love NZ and NZ products. On a personal note, the Fergusons two children have married during their tour - one to an American. They are a popular couple, and expect to have a lot of visitors from the US over the years!
