The latest news from Xinjiang province in China
today is that a Chinese court has just handed down death
sentences to six men for their involvement in the July riots
there between Han Chinese and the indigenous Uighur people.
Also today, Rebiya Kadeer, a well-known activist for Uighur
rights, is in New Zealand at the invitation of the Green
Party. Kim talks to her about her amazing life and what the
future holds for the Uighur people.

It's hip to hate Starbucks. It's big, bad, and
expensive - but with around 16,120 stores in 49 countries,
it's obvious that most people don't agree. Least of all
Americans - about 11,000 of all Starbucks stores are in the
U.S.A. Kim talks to History Professor Bryant Simon from
Temple University in Philadelphia about his book; Everything
but the Coffee: Learning about America from Starbucks. Is
the country really in such a state that we can learn that
much about it from its biggest coffee shop chain?
