12:15 10-20% by 2020 – Ambitious for NZ?
The government says it’s aiming for a 10-20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. The projected cost to each New Zealander is $30 per week, and the target’s achievability is dependent on action from emissions giants China and India . Kim is joined by Climate Change Minister Nick Smith, whose mantra is “Promise less, do more”. But has he promised too little to do anything?

12:40 10-20% by 2020 – Not Ambitious Enough
Greenpeace doesn’t think the government is being Ambitious for NZ at all. Climate Campaigner Simon Boxer tells Kim the $30 figure being waved about is simply scaremongering, and that New Zealand is playing catch-up with the rest of the world – and will continue to for decades to come.

1:00 Afghanistan : here we go again
The SAS has been committed to several more years in Afghanistan , amid recent reports that the Taleban is strengthening. What challenges will troops face over there, and can they hope to achieve anything? Or is this just another example of pandying to the U.S. ’ demands? Kim is joined by Otago University Politics Professor Robert Patman.

1:40 The Green Desk
Simon Miller talks to Karli Thomas, Oceans Campaigner for Greenpeace, about a documentary called The Great New Zealand Fishing Scandal.
