Scoop Audio: Air New Zealand Press Conference On Airbus Crash: 10:30am 28/11/08

In a conference call this morning Air New Zealand CEO Rob Fyfe updated media on the Airbus A320 crash in the Mediterranian.

Onboard the aircraft were four Air New Zealand personel - a senior captain and three engineers - as well as a Civil Aviation Authority inspector.

They were monitoring an acceptance flight prior to the aircraft being returned to Air New Zealand, after being leased to XL Airways of Germany.

One body has so far been recovered. Search and rescue is continuing in bad weather through the European early morning. Mr Fyfe said he still felt hopeful about the possibility of survivors.

Air New Zealand executives and families of the missing crew will be travelling to Perpignan today.

There was no further information on the causes of the crash. The next update is expected at 3pm today.
