Wet weekend vids
It’s a rainy Saturday in the Bay Area, so YouTube was my entertainment choice.
::Public dime and equal time::
This video was shot this afternoon (Saturday) at the KQED studios in San Francisco, and shows supporters of Cindy Sheehan and Libertarian candidate Phil Berg trying to get on a popular radio show called Forum, which was giving Nancy Pelosi 30 minutes airtime.
From the discussion with the KQED spokesperson, it seems Berg and Sheehan—unlike another two candidates opposing Pelosi who accepted 30 minutes between them—refused to participate unless it was a debate between all the candidates. KQED is part of the Public Broadcasting System, funded by the federal government, grants from foundations, bequests, endowments, and donations from individuals.
Near the end of the video, Sheehan gets through to Pelosi by phone—it was a phone-in program—and at the very end we have Pelosi saying why the Democrats will never impeach George W. Bush.
::Redistricting gets sexy::
Forget Joe the Plumber! Get an eyeful of Luke the Firefighter doing a campaign ad for Proposition 11, which seeks to set up an independent body to take redistricting out of the hands of Sacramento politicians—who obviously have a vested interest in maintaining the districts that elected them.
::Scary movie::
And what would Halloween be without a little vid about how the world is being taken over by reptilian aliens. Those Austrians are wacky, ja? If you make it through to the end—8 mins—you’ll see a very important message that applies even if you’re not paranoid:
“Please ask questions whenever you can and always stand up for your rights.”
Happy Halloween!
