The Thursday Wire Hosted By Imogen Neale

1200 - news, weather and surf with Bjornar

1215 – New Zealand First's Transport spokesperson Peter Brown

Wrapping up a week of Transport, New Zealand First's transport spokesperson Peter Brown joins us to tell us exactly what his party's stance is: What do they think about tolled roads, buses, a connected city of seamless transport or peddle power and electric cars? And then there is the Public Transport Management Bill...

1225 – Dr Sean Sullivan

A big part of the transport debate circles around fuels - how much, what, where from... Dr Sean Sullivan from LanzaTech is developed a way to turn carbon monoxide, or dirty emissions, into clean fuel. I kid you not, it's not science fiction - the government recently put $12 million towards his research. He joins us at 12.25 to talk about future fuels.

1245 – Carol Perwick

As much as women might be tempted to loose weight when they become pregnant research released yesterday argues this is exactly the wrong time to shed a few kilos. Why? Because it seems that women who diet before pregnancy both gain more weight during their pregnancy and increase the risk of things like diabetes, c sections and large babies. Carol Perwick is a clinical dietitian at Christchurch Womens Hospital she joins us to talk through the findings and hopefully impart some basic, and sound advice.

1300 - Greg Newbold

I'm confused. The crime stats make it look like crime is up, some say no, it's just more reporting. Other say yes, they are, more reporting or not. How can it be that numbers are so subjective? Is anyone else confused? Is there a clear picture there somewhere politicos just aren't talking about? I hope that's something Sociology Professor Greg Newbold from Canterbury University can clear up for us at 1.

1320 - Peter Griffin

In Peter's science kete this week is the debut of WiMax technology in the US (whatever that is), a shakeup of broadband plans at Telecom - someone had better warn the furry pets - and the first attempt to record sound on another planet. That'd be Mars. Honest.
1340 – Paper cuts with Pennie

For most people buying a little piece of art for the wall is something they put on their wish list - after they've paid for the many other things like road user charges. But. Wait. Help is at hand. Check this: Esopus magazine. A whole book load of art for your guilty pleasure. Is it that good? Could it be Penni's first 5 paper-cutter?

Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial.
