Scoop Video: Madeleine Setchell Inquiry Press Conferences - Video on Demand of the two press conferences held this morning at the State Services Commission to announce the results of the Don Hunn report into the Madeleine Setchell Sacking Affair. In the second press conference State Services Commissioner Mark Prebble and Ministry of Environment Chief Executive Hugh Logan began by reading prepared statements. Agriculture: NZ Pork Industry Appalled At MAF'S Actions - MAF Biosecurity New Zealand (MAF) has just issued, for public consultation, draft Import Heath Standards (IHSs)
developed for pig meat and pig meat products in respect of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus.
These draft standards propose to relax current controls on pig meat and knowingly permit the importation and release of
risk material into the New Zealand market, in the form of ready-to-cook high value cuts of pork meat from countries

Statistics: Residential Buildings Continue To Push Up CGPI - The Capital Goods Price Index (CGPI) rose 0.7 percent in the September 2007 quarter mainly due to higher construction
prices for new houses, Statistics New Zealand said today. This follows rises of 0.4 percent in the June 2007 quarter and
0.3 percent in March 2007 quarter. In the year to the September 2007 quarter, the CGPI rose 2.3 percent - the lowest

Bird Flu: H5N1 Avian Influenza Confirmed In UK Poultry - Following further test results from the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA) the Acting Chief Veterinary Officer has
confirmed that the strain of Avian Influenza present at the Infected Premises near Diss is the highly pathogenic H5N1
strain. Further characterisation of the virus is in progress, which may give an indication of the origin of the strain.
Movement restrictions will be imposed and poultry must be isolated from wild birds. More >> [1]
