This morning Green Party Co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons wearing her Govt Spokesperson hat on Energy Efficiency and Minister of Energy David Parker announced the launch of the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy at Parliament. The strategy sets out the government’s vision for a sustainable, low emissions energy system.

- The government has set a target of halving domestic transport emissions per capita by 2040, and for New Zealand to be one of the first countries to widely deploy electric vehicles.

- The government has set a target for 90 percent of our electricity to come from renewable sources by 2025.
