Freedom Rider: Ahmadinejad Sane, Bush Crazy

Freedom Rider: Ahmadinejad Sane, Bush Crazy

by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

A famous old English song is titled, "The World Turned Upside Down." Such appears to be the insane vantage point through which the Bush regime, and many ordinary citizens, view reality: in reverse. U.S. media and politicians behave as if they are already at war with Iran, a nation that has been brutalized over generations by Americans, but whose president spoke of world peace and an end to "dark plots" during his visit to this country. Deafened and blinded by arrogant, ignorant, unthinking hatred, Americans responded with venom in quantities toxic to all rational thought. The Poisoner-in-Chief, George Bush, has made great strides in turning much of the nation into a Cuckoo's Nest.

Freedom Rider: Ahmadinejad Sane, Bush Crazy

by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

"He [Bush] should respect the American people. They should not bug the telephone conversations of their citizens. They should not kill the sons and daughters of the American nation. They should not squander the taxpayers' money and give them to weapons companies. And also help the people, the victims of Katrina. People will vote for them if they do these things." - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, president of Iran

It would be the height of folly if Mahmoud Ahmadinejad believed for one moment that George W. Bush will ever respect the people, the constitution or the laws of the United States. Bush wants to bug our phones, squander our money and enrich his friends at Halliburton. He will never do anything for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Bush has done everything he ever wanted to do and he has continued to be successful with the help of the party that should be opposing him.

"New York newspapers competed with one another to see who could drum up more hatred of Ahmadinejad."

George W. Bush twice cheated his way into the oval office. Ahmadinajad was democratically elected. Iran is not at war with any other nation. Bush has occupied Iraq four years ago and is responsible for the deaths of one million people. Despite the clear differences in behavior and morality, the United States Congress has overwhelmingly approved three separate resolutions that will be used to authorize the warlike nation, America, to attack the peaceful nation, Iran.

When both Ahmadinejad and Bush recently spoke at the United Nations, the horrifying truth of America's insanity and evil could not be denied. An alien from another world would have thought that Ahmadinejad was the very personification of human evil. New York newspapers competed with one another to see who could drum up more hatred of Ahmadinejad and twist his words into outright lies. Like the tawdry tabloids, nearly every presidential candidate competed for the right to be the most hateful and openly threaten the lives of the Iranian people.

"America is the country led by crazy, hate filled people."

When Ahmadinejad expressed a desire to lay a wreath at the World Trade Center site he was treated worse than the most common criminal and told to stay away. His expressions of sympathy would have proven inconvenient once American bombs began to fall on his country.

Ahmadinajad's visit proved that America is the country led by crazy, hate filled people. The imminent attack on Iran will not be the first this country has inflicted. Ahmadinajad pointed out as much in a 60 Minutes interview:

"Well, initially, we might have had the impression that American officials want to redeem themselves and the mistakes they have made in the past. Because for eight years they supported Saddam against my nation. Many hundreds of thousands of people were killed. Thousands of people were chemically bombarded. Many people were killed in their own houses. This very city of Tehran was the target of more than 100 missiles. Many people were killed in Tehran. But Saddam was being supported by American officials. So once American officials announced that they were going to deal with Saddam, our first impression was that they're going to make amends for their past behavior."

Making amends is for twelve-step programs, not for empires. Not only will America not make amends to Iran, Iraq or any other nation it has harmed, but it will sink further into a morass of theft and murder whenever it feels the whim or the need. The country that thinks itself moral and superior is in fact the "great satan" that the Ayatollahs railed against:

"What religion, please tell me, tells you as a follower of that religion to occupy another country and kill its people? Please tell me. Does Christianity tell its followers to do that? Judaism, for that matter? Islam, for that matter? What prophet tells you to send 160,000 troops to another country, kill men, women, and children? You just can't wear your religion on your sleeve or just go to church. You should be truthfully religious. Religion tells us all that you should respect the property, the life of different people. Respect human rights. Love your fellow man. And once you hear that a person has been killed, you should be saddened. You shouldn't sit in a room, a dark room, and hatch plots. And because of your plots, many thousands of people are killed."

The so-called madman quite rightly lectured Americans on their claims of religious faith. Bush and his friends are always seated in "dark rooms" hatching plots and too many of their own people support their efforts to keep killing around the world.

"The wisdom and sanity is coming from Iran, the evil and insanity is coming from Washington."

George W. Bush has brought death to America faster than any foreign country could ever dream. No enemy is necessary when thieves and killers are at the helm of the ship of state. Ahmadinejad's words should serve as a warning because all hell is about to break loose. The wisdom and sanity is coming from Iran, the evil and insanity is coming from Washington, from Republicans and Democrats alike.

If sane people were in charge of our government, then American military defeat would be something to hope for. Yet it is hard to imagine what Bush and Cheney will do at home and abroad if Ahmadinejad is stronger than they think. Because our Congress won't do its constitutionally mandated duty and begin an impeachment investigation, there is nothing that the Bush regime can't get away with. The American people have already lost their constitutional protections and an attack on Iran will only hasten the process. We are about to see just how crazy our leaders are and how sane is the rest of the world.
