Fashion Week: Stolen Girlfriends Club's Pure Rock n Roll
The wannabe underground label have seen a fast rise to fame in a very short amount of time and have a total cult following that almost borderlines on the obsessive, which did not add to the atmosphere of virtual hysteria in the tent before the show started.
Stolen Girlfriends Club is a label that really does know how to do pure rock n roll, as evidenced by their strong, sexed
up, edgy show - a real crowd-pleaser for a raucous 'fan club' who couldn't get enough.
The opening garment was modelled by stunning model Brigitte Berger, (who also happens to be the mother of gorgeous young
model Lily Montana who was the second model to take to the catwalk) and both their garments set the scene for a show
packed with a grungy mix of tight jeans, leather patches, studding, fringing and plastic detailing that paid homage to
the 80's, 90's and even a vision of the future in one collection.
Both guys and girls strutted (they had no choice) in sprayed-on jeans in black and blue chambray denim, sweatshirts -
both cropped and full length - and adorned with plastic patches, hoods, and OTT studding.
The waist-coat also proved to be a big look in this range and will undoubtedly be snapped up by the cool kids. Stolen
Girlfriends Club softened theirs with the addition of lace, transforming an otherwise hardcore collection into something
a little more feminine and this unexpected touch worked perfectly.
PVC pants walked among tuxedo inspired tailoring, and fabulous fringe covered dresses added a touch of country western
chic - Stolen Girlfriends style of course.
Pale neon's and powder blues made up a fresh, edgy colour palate, and we fell head over heels for the orange MAC
lipstick worn by the models (which also came in the goodie bags) - now if only we could pull it off!
The highlight of the show for this writer were the plastic mackintoshes with studded hoods. They were so fantastic that
I can't help but cross my fingers for rain next winter.
