Fashionz.co.nz: Deadly Ponies Launches Handbags, Belts, Wallets Collection

The Deadly Ponies show commenced with a little confusion as we entered to find installation pieces throughout the room covered with sheets of leather. People soon began lifting the covers to see what lay beneath, little did they realise that was the job of the models! Once revealed, we saw a delightful collection of accessories including handbags, belts, wallets and jewellery.
Entitled "Sticks and Stones", the Winter 08 collection is inspired by its namesake. Pieces are bursting with imagination, drawing on a range of themes and sources - particularly that of an enchanted forest.
Designers Liam Bowden and Katie Smith have meticulously hand crafted accessories out of many types of media. Sticks are co-erced into wrist adornments and bag handles, while stones are transformed into rings and pendants that hung on low slung chains.
Vibrant coloured leather including purples, misty whites and bright reds are juxtaposed amongst textures of the forest.
Almost every piece was a favourite so it's hard to name a few – the chocolate brown side-satchel, bold purple scarf, and feminine wee purse are particularly worthy a note. On a whole the range caters for both the conservative and eccentric, with pieces that are distinctly different, yet ever so practical.
