Fashionz.co.nz: Annah Stretton Shows Are Far From Demure
Annah Stretton’s shows are never demure and today’s was no exception. A dramatic opening featuring huge oriental fans and the striking Geeling Ng, setting the mood for a distinctly Asian flavour to Stretton’s winter collection.
The fan motif was cleverly repeated in fan-shaped bibs on slim strapless dresses and short, stiff fan sleeves. Sheer
wrap tops in oriental florals billowed atop tiny shorts and slim pants and Chinese collars adorned mini-dresses in
pinstriped suiting and a floor-sweeping grey wool coat.
Favourites were the charcoal off-shoulder jersey dress teamed with a slim belt, also a pair of jaunty jodphurs and a
truly wild silver lurex dress complete with fan bib. We also liked the high-waisted checked trousers with short
waistcoat and the burnished gold dress in crushed silk.
Annah’s trademark animal print made an appearance in a full-length dress and the darker suiting of dresses and prim
skirts were off-set by warm splashes of golds, greens, reds and oranges.
This was an interesting cocktail blend of exotic romance and sophisticated winter elegance. Such a blend has certainly
become Annah’s signature.
