Fashion: Juliette Hogan, Curvy Local Girls Rejoice
Fashionz.co.nz: Juliette Hogan – Curvy Local Girls Rejoice
Juliette Hogan - “The demure, up-town New York girl gets a new image this winter” read the show notes – and thus Juliette Hogan’s second Air NZ Fashion Week show was a little sexier and a little less dainty than what’s gone before.
And that’s a great thing in terms of wearability! Curvy local girls rejoice – Hogan’s wide, straight leg pants with a glimpse of metallic piping at the waistband will make all of us look taller and leggier – though admittedly you’d ideally have to have the great bones of a New York princess to look quite as stunning as the models in rolled sleeve white shirts tucked into said pants. Don’t despair – this was also shown with a great dull pink metallic thigh length shift layered over the top.
Hogan’s label’s sexiness is still relatively “covered-up”, but relies on the female form, embracing busts and revealing lots of arm and leg. The New York aesthetic was underlined by free flowing tousled-but-super-conditioned curls, with tasteful red lips and beautiful brows courtesy of MAC.
“Fake Empire” had a lovely langourousness – the princess doesn’t always have to fuss about what to wear to winter cocktails, sometimes popping on a simple little long sleeved, lace mini dress adorned at the waist by a pale gold cummerbund. And she has bearing enough to carry off both a little shirtwaister in what could have been a luxurious upholstery print, and a luscious, boldly simple silk maxi dress – essentially a tank that grew.
“Fake Empire” is one of those collections where the more you look back, the more you like it – sign of a winner.
