APEC OKs 25% energy efficiency improvement goal by 2030
SYDNEY — Asia-Pacific leaders agreed Saturday to set an "aspirational goal" of improving the energy efficiency of output by at least 25 percent from the 2005 level by 2030 in a region-wide effort to tackle global warming. The leaders from the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum also agreed to pursue a regional goal of increasing forest cover in the APEC region by at least 20 million hectares of all types of forests by 2020.
