Women And A More Beautiful World

Women And A More Beautiful World

Kamala Sarup

My arguments are arguments, as I state, but simply my preferences for how people would like the Women look. An argument is a series of definitions and statements buttressed by logic and evidence to prove a conclusion. However, I will not find such definitions and statements and I will not find people's conclusion supported by logic and evidence.

On the role of women in constructing a more beautiful world. True, since women are, on the average, less aggressive than men, on the average, giving more women more political power will probably promote more peace, on the average. However, since women promotion to positions of influence and power will take a long time to achieve, then their influence for the forseeable future will be negligible.

Likewise, my prognosis that there is a serious danger, that human civilization will self-destruct, is alarmist talk not supported by anything concrete. Therefore, let us consider our believes for what it is: an emotional appeal for a better women respect as we want it to be.

The likelihood of achieving the women's aspirations are to be found in an analysis of human behavior, which is a combination of genetic and environmental causes, including the behavior patterns called aggression, the latter being aggression on a grand scale.

Even, we have evidence for aggression from infants at birth, before any socialization, who exhibit aggression when their immediate needs are not met. Also, we have plenty of evidence from primitive and modern societies that aggresssion is promoted or inhibited by different cultures.

Spartans were taught to be aggression, athenians less so. Among Amerindians, Iroquois were aggressive, while Algonquins were less so. Thus, the problem of making more beauti and peace and less violence amounts to societal restructuring of an environment that promotes peaceful behavior patterns.

We shall see if women's preferences for a peaceful world are likely to achieve our goals.

Finally, becoming "women activists" might prevent violence, if there were lots of them, because it is highly likely that most women will aspire to this kind of life.

Best that can be done is to continue with globalization, which takes money from the lower classes of rich and gives some of it to the poor women.

On the other side, there is a logic or evidence that promoting sustainable economic growth will grow. Also, as we know from history, the human species has survived in spite of its peacelike nature and there is no evidence that it is about to perish; on the contrary, its numbers continue to increase in beauty and peace.

In fact, cynical environmentalists prefer that more peace is to be encouraged, because they will make the world a better place.
