Scoop Audio: PM On Harawira's Trip

Today's press conference was a fairly subdued affair. After reading out a list of upcoming reports about to be released – one of which deals with the problem of loan sharking and Pacifica peoples - the Prime Minister took questions from the media.

Of primary interest to the news media was Maori Party MP Hone Harawira and his detour from a Justice and Electoral Select Committee Australian visit. Mr Harawira's impromptu detour to Alice Springs and show of solidarity with the indigenous people of Australia was briefly discussed by the PM.

In the PM's view it was all well and good for an MP to go to Australia and express their opinion however when they were ostensibly supposed to be on a fact-finding meeting with their fellow committee members then it was not good enough to bunk off.

Mr Harawira for his part released a detailed media briefing regarding his impromptu, unplanned trip to the heart of the lucky country, and even threw in valuable information such as what a Kangaroo tastes like.
