Indian Exercise to Engulf Nepal Revealed
Indian Exercise to Engulf Nepal Revealed
01 July 2007
Mohan Nepali, Kathmandu:
Janaadesh weekly proximal to Maoists last Tuesday revealed that Nepal’s armed groups such as Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF), Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha factions Goit and Jwalasingh, Terai Tigers, Nepal Sadbhawana Party (this is unarmed) and some other armed groups composed of regular robbers murderers and Hindu lunatics met at Darbhanga in Bihar bordering Nepal to form a unified front to separate the Terai region from Nepal. These organizations have been financed, supported and trained by Indian warlords and extremists, opposed to human rights and democracy.
Ram Raja Prasad Singh, a veteran Terai leader who on 11 June attended a secret meeting guarded by Indian security forces, disclosed this to the weekly paper. Giving a brief interview to the newspaper, Singh said that he refused the post of the supreme leader for the proposed Terai liberation war that would be directed at establishing Nepal’s only plain region as a separate country with the recognition of India and America. Referred to the written letter that he received from the hosts of the Darbhanga meeting, Singh said that these armed groups have clearly admitted to their intention of achieving Indian support through the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy. They have even decided to establish good relationship with the Indian Embassy.
When the outgoing US ambassador to Nepal James F. Moriarty said any other group should be welcomed if they attack Nepal’s Maoists, the armed MJF on the next day assassinated two Maoist district leaders who inspected and opposed the unilaterally constructed dam at Indo-Nepal border. The dam damages many villages of Rupandeh every rain season. The MJF did not say why it was assigned to abduct and murder the Maoists. Human rights groups and political parties have been practicing ‘save-yourself’ exercises regarding such cases.
Indian armed lords do not seem to tolerate any Nepali asserting their right as a citizen of an independent and sovereign nation. The MJF and other similar groups have been working as mercenaries for Indian interests. Such groups will remain so long as the grassroot people do not rise up in revolt and sweep them away.
Surprisingly, the Nepal Sadhbhawan Party (NSP), a participant in the current interim government, has also joined a secret and conspiratorial meeting designed to divide Nepal into small fiefdoms.
Meanwhile, the Nepal, a national weekly magazine Sunday has republished the news along with the interview of Ram Raja Prasad Singh. Talking to the magazine, Singh said that Nepal must not be divided. He has asked all to rise above communal politics.
Ram Raja Prasad Singh is a veteran republican leader believing in Marxism and social justice. He expresses his belief that Nepal can prosper rapidly if political forces work with moral integrity.
While Terai-based mercenaries working for their Indian masters have been exercising their criminal and armed activities, leaders of one of such armed groups, the MJF, have been openly meeting the Home Minister and other pro-India leaders in Kathmandu. How long will the Nepalis tolerate such deliberate criminalization of politics?
When criminal groups without any ideology and vision continue to torture the Nepalis in the Terai, some other strong leadership with a clear vision, leadership and public communication skills will have to take over the responsibility of guiding the region. People in the region expect such leadership. Only money, weapons and evil tactics will not work for ever. They are temporary and the genuine Nepalis will overcome all the evil forces.
Moreover, it has become necessary for New Delhi to make sure that it has abided by the international norms and values as to the independence and sovereignty of nations, small and big. Most important in this context is to understand the fact that India will suffer devastatingly if Nepal becomes a fountain of bloodbath because Nepal is a country tri-directionally bordering India.
In order to prove that Nepal is an independent and sovereign nation running with people’s power, the Nepal government must immediate arrest those dividing mercenaries and punish them as per the constitution. Should the government let them openly organize anti-Nepal campaigns, people will understand that this government is also working for external forces; they will ultimately seek a better alternative.
